Turning Waste into Usable Products

Kulla design has been taking discarded materials and using them to create new, usable products. In the Core77 article, we learn that Miri Breskin, Adi Shpigel, and Keren Tomer would pick up old construction materials, turn them into raw materials, and created a furniture line from what was created. They have a chair, stool, CD rack, and room divider.
An interesting thing? Most of the materials they have received have been free from scrap-shop owners who wold have to pay for the waste removal from these unwanted goods.
This reminds me of when Majora Carter came to speak earlier this year at Hofstra. She helped to found the Sustainable South Bronx, working to help the Bronx create a better, green community. She described a system in which they were taking old, discarded materials to create new and usable furniture.
In an age where most people simply discard their old items, it is good that some are thinking of ways to use all this "trash" for something useful.
